Happy Halloween!

Happy Birthday Mom !!!!

I believe the plan is for them to go out for supper for her birthday.

The garage should start the beginning of the week. Jess and Dad got the drain put in. Waiting to get the building staked and then will finish off the water and electric when they know for sure where the wall will be.

Heard that Dakota has earned his Eagle Scout award, so congratulations to him.

Jess and Rick have been 4-0 the last 2 weekends in cornhole tourneys. Won money and they each won 2 sets of boards. So now they have started to paint and sell boards as well. They have found buyers in their friends for the boards they have won, and are going to take some up to Bob's at the Tiger Shop.

That's all for now, take care everyone

Love Cheryl

Thankfully, Stan and I were

able to see Carolyn on Wednesday. She only felt ill for four weeks. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is safely home now. It's good to tell our friends and family we love them regularly.

Some of the family went to Ocean City, NJ last Monday. That day was a little cool but we still enjoyed the time. Yesterday, Stan and I took Rachael to the Philadelphia Zoo. Rachael and I took the train and Stan met us at the other end in the morning so Rachael could ride a train. It is only one hour from Lancaster by train.

It's quiet here now. Everyone has something going on.

Next week I will start helping with an immunization clinic for immigrants at thelocal rescue mission. It's a couple times a month. Slowly getting my skills up.

Stan just finished a little series called Understanding Islam. It has drawn a lot of interest. It was a prelude to Things to Come, his next series. Some of you heard Stan talk about this while here for David's graduation. In Ezekial 38-39 the countries that come against Israel are mostly Islamic. Stan believes we have a good possibility tosee this prophecy soon.come to pass. Most Bible scholars believe we are in the last days. If you're interested we are uploading his sermons on the church website. The site is not up right now so I'll have to let you know. I think it's central manorchurch.org

Love to you all, Jeanne

It has been a month already.....

since I posted ???????

Sorry about your comment so late David. I didn't know that would be moderated. Just saw it tonight.

On to news, first of all Kayla's 4th birthday was Sept. 4 and Darren's birthday was Sept.5. Had party at at Ross and Amanda's.

Got the fair over and then got caught back up at home.

Jess and Rick took 1st place in the cornhole tourney at the Fulton County fair last week. The night before the tourney had a big hoopla here with the guys they all play with and they played until 2:00am. They are actually running one at the Liberty Fall Festival this coming Saturday.

In the process of putting up the shed at the pond. We put together the frame for the roof and hope to get it set on the walls tomorrow night. Will make a decision on the garage this week and get started on it.

On another note, Jeanne and Stan lost a good friend they lived by when they first moved to PA. 20 years ago. Carolyn, a 50 year old mother of 2 high school girls died after finding out she had breast cancer 3 months ago. Please keep her family in your prayers and Jeanne and Stan and their loss.

Love all, Cheryl

More Happy Birthdays !!!

Isaiah was 6 on Wednesday and his party is tomorrow. And Dad will be 79 on tomorrow.

Had a great time with the girls here and they got alot of work done. The wood shed is down and they should have picked up the trash container yesterday. Will post some pics later, I did find my camera, was in my purse !!

Spent most of the week at the fairgrounds getting ready. First full day was today. Rick and I worked all day and Jess and Kristi are working tonight. Kara and family came up for supper when we were leaving. I was tired and my feet and back were aching. Will start agin tomorrow, but take the later afternoon off for Isaiah's party and to visit with Dad.

Diane, I sent you a new invite, follow the prompts.

Later, Love Cheryl

Had a full weekend...

and glad to be back to work to rest up !!

Diane and James is here and Kevin and Meghan will be here tomorrow.

Friday night went to a Toledo Mudhens game with the Davis Farm group. Food and Drinks included. Saturday was a cornhole tourney in Lyons that the guys took 2nd place and $75.00 and t-shirts. Lilly and I watched for the day, went looking for garage sales.. Then a couple of guys came back to house and the cornhole went on until about 1:00 am. Sunday was church and then cornhole at the Hamler Summerfest. They came in fourth and no prize money. Took James with us and him and Lilly played in the junior tourney. So it was fun and the brats and german potato salad was good. Went back to Mom and Dad's where Ross and family and Kara and family were. Guys were fishing and the rest of us just relaxing. Kayla and Kallie came to our house to spend the night with Lilly and Jess is watching them today.

Moving the incubators out of the wood shed today, and getting ready for it to come down. Put out feelers for estimates today, to see what we get.

Vacation

Hi Everybody,
We continue to have a busy summer here. Sarah has been ordering her nursing textbooks, uniforms etc. David bought a neat car this week. A 95 Geo Prism. Very nice conditon and he loves it. He has been working a lot. Nathan turns 16 tomorrow and we will try to get his permit on our way out tomorrow. When we return Nathan will start working on a dairy farm helping to milk cows. He is excited about it and learned the ropes quickly. Rachael is doing well with piano lessons, finally the third time around!j

We are going to go first to Buffalo, NY to meet John's sweetie and her parents. They invited us to stay the weekend. On Saturday we will go to Niagra Falls! On Monday we will head to the Adirondacks for a three day wilderness canoe trip on the Oswegatchie River. We will camp in the camper on either side of the canoe trip. Yep, we are taking all of us food and all in three canoes. Stan will give us lessons on paddling at the beginning. He knows all that sort of thing from all his years exploring the Adirondacks in college.

We will get home Aug 1(Sat). I plan to come to Ohio on the next Tuesday. I need to give myself a break before the long drive home. More later, Love Jeanne

Back to work for me....

I actually had 4 days off. Davis Farm had off Monday and Rick had off Friday, so I took a vacation day for Friday.
Had a project of cleaning and staining the front porch and after 4 days still not done. But getting there and will be lovely.
Jess asked us to go to Defiance for fireworks, so we went up there Friday night.
Spent the day Sunday at the pond. Dad and Rick fishing and Mom and I sitting in the sun. They caught a catfish and 3 bass, so we grilled them for supper.
Diane's plans for summer are firm. She will be in Ohio July 25 to Aug. 11. Jeanne is still working on her plans, maybe the first week in August, about the 4th for a few days. Wayne, any chance you are going to make it out ?? Will have a 15 yard container there and working on the machine shed and basement. Also prep work at the wood shed for a garage. But I believe there will be time for a shopping day for the girls. Mom and I went last week for a few things and supper out. we zipped aroung Diance Mall at a pretty good clip. Got her in the courtesy wheelchair and told her she would have to hang on, I push faster than Dad does. Had a good laugh.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon !!!! Cheryl

Finally posting

Can't believe it took me this long to post. To back up a little, we had a grand time when everyone came out for David's graduation. Wish that could happen more. We hope Jess and Lillie will come back and stay longer and go do some day trips from here and make a nice vacation of it.

The summer seems quiet here because the older three come and go. John is having a great time taking it easy, seeing friends and making plans for the future. Those plans include Elizabeth Martinke who he met at college last year. They are officially courting/dating. She is super nice. She is from Buffalo, NY. She will return to Lancaster in the fall. For now they are writing letters which John prefers to talking on the phone.

Sarah just finished her Anatomy and Physiology class for nursing school. She took the summer class to lighten her load this fall. Now she will work more at Cherry Hill Orchards Outlet.

David has decided to attend Lancaster Bible College also in the fall. He received a number of nice scholarships from them and can commute. We are starting to look for a car for him so he can come and go to classes and stuff. That's fun for him. He got a full time job at a Turkey Hill store, which is a chain of mini market/gas store. It was hard to find a job and he finally got this job by having the resume from online printed off and in hand and walked into the store. The manager was in and liked him.

Nathan is in Alabama right now for two and a half weeks helping a friend of ours add on to their church. He is doing wiring this time. This is his third time down. The highlight was flying in a small two seat plane from Pensacola to Dothan AL. The pilot let him fly the plane. We sent one of our phones with him so we call and stay connected.

Ben and Rachael are justing hanging out at home this summer. They both worked picking strawberries earlier this month and go a little money. The pool is up and they are using it this week to stay cool.

Work with the private duty nursing is going well. I find I only work about a day a week. That works well for me. I have been busy doing the garden produce up and freezing strawberries and cherries. I picked around 60 pounds of cherries this week and froze them. Tomorrow the kids want to get some sour cherries for pies. My freezer is getting full.

Hey Cheryl, please keep faithfully posting. I hope more of us start posting so we can stay in touch with each other. I tried to look at your other pics you posted but this computer is terrible.
I will probable come home late July/early August. I was to be a leader for a group coming from Japan(high schoolers) but they cancelled due to the swine flu so now my whole August is freed up.
Love to all, Jeanne

June is almost over...

and it is pretty warm here. Air was out one night, but the repair man right in the next morning.

Had a good Fathers' Day. Went to pond after church and I got some sun and Rick fished. After their nap, Mom and Dad came back, and the kids came around later in the afternoon and we had pizza for supper.

That is a picture of a baby snapping turtle Rick found in the front yard. He now has a happy home at the pond. Probably couldn't have been hatched out more than a couple of days.

Pictures from Las Vegas here

Had a great time. Stayed downtown on Fremont Street.

Diane will be home July 25 to August 11, James with her, Kevin and Meghan for 5 or 6 days of that, in on the 28th or close to that. Heard rumor that Jeanne would be her August 4th or there about. Don't know for how long. thru the weekend ??

Ball games almost over.

6.04.2009

Pictures

If you click the title it will take you to miscellaneous pictures for you to look at.

Lilly and Isaiah both had their first games of the season this week. Both did very well.
June will be full. Their season only last that long.

They have built (Jess and Dad) a large cage for the dogs on the north side of the machine shed and a garage behind the house is in the works for this summer.

And Monday we leave for VEGAS !!!!!!!!! Rick has never been there and the only time I was there was with Jeanne a LONG time ago.We are very excited and should have a great time. there wil be about 15 going all together. We leave on the 8th and will be back the 15th. Bowling will be the 11th and 12th. Probably my last blog til we get back. Wish us luck.........

Happy Birthday Jeanne

Today is her lucky day and Diane's is coming right up.

I heard graduation was a great success. Congratulations to David on his accomplishment. Jess and Lilly had a great time. He took Rachel and Lilly to Hershey for an afternoon. Went with John to buy a weight set. Told Stan he could have a driving range in that yard. Jeanne kept them well fed.

5.28.2009

SHHHHHH............. What's that noise ???

Ah, nothing, it's QUIET, at our house ................

They all left at about 7:30 this morning

5.27.2009

Is there anyone else out there ???

Had another great weekend. Ross and family came out Saturday night. Guys came over to watch the UFC fight and Kayla ended up staying til Monday. Took her to church and then we all went over to Kara's while Darren and Rick worked on the mower. She had a good time with the boys. It was fun to have her here. She is a cracker.

Monday did the parade and a cookout, before afternoon cornhole. Have pictures of Dad I will post later.

Truck is all washed and waxed, ready for the big trip. Dad, Mom, Jess and Lilly will leave Thursday AM and be back Sunday evening. They were going to mow up today, but it has been raining off and on. I'm sure Jeanne has everything under control out, but wishing I was coming to help.

What's happening with everyone ????

5.18.2009

A great weekend

Warm all weekend although a little breezy.

Had a few friends over for corn hole and pool Friday night. Too windy for a fire.

Saturday got some cleaning done, Lilly, Isaiah and Logan came over for mud pie and volcano making later on in the afternoon.

Sunday after church and dinner, we all ended up at the pond. Jess and Kara took the kids fishing. Jess has been working on the trees and landscaping back there as well. I went over later on and took Mom and Dad back, just to sit around. By then Darren was there and after he got done mowing our yard Rick came over. They have a new shed to put up and was discussing that and just enjoying the first real day to sit back there.

Mom and Dad are making final preparations for trip to Jeanne's for Davids' graduation. Jess is riding along and now also Lilly is going. She can't wait to see Rachel, they will have a great time. Wish I could be there, but can not make it this time. Will be leaving Thursday the 28 and back Sunday. Graduation is Friday.

Rick and I will be going to Vegas June 8 - June 15.

"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts." -- Washington Irving (1783-1859)

Thank You MOM, I Love You !!!!

Great weekend.

A couple of great days in a row. We got a lot of yard work done Saturday, mowed, flower beds, and trimming trees. Dad called in the afternoon and wanted his and Mom's picture taken in front of tree that was blooming, so ran over there and did that. Lilly was here and Isaiah came over to help with the yard work and spend the night.

Sunday after church, Jess took the two of them over to the pond to fish. Dad was already back there. Finished off the afternoon with spaghetti and cornhole.

Doesn't get much better than that. Hope you had a great weekend also.

5.01.2009

Hey, what's everyone doing?

Hope all is well.

Been raining here and not much crop work done. May is going to be pretty busy. When it dries out, the farmers will be at it hard. Because of that I will not be going to Jeanne's for Davids' graduation May 29th, unless it is raining that week and it would work, but I believe the plan is right now for Jess to go with them. The plan is for them to go out Thursday and leave Sunday. I'm sorry I will have to miss, had a good time there last spring.

Mom and Dad have been getting some yard work done and mowing along. They bought a new shed for the pond. Jess went with them last week to pick it up.

We have mowed at home and got a few trees down out of the back lot, trying to clear it up a little. Need to spray some 2,4D to keep the weeds down and let the grass grow. Still pretty wet back there yet from all the rain. Mosquitos will be bad back there. Have to get some donuts for the water.

Got some windows and window sills cleaned last weekend. Going to get an open trash container at Dad's to start in on the basement and barn and wood shed. They really want to get rid of some of that stuff.

Ross is back to work, Jess is still off.

Kids are all good. Kallie had her baptism April 19, and then we all went out for dinner. I will post some pics when I get home. Lilly and Isaiah will be starting summer ball pretty soon. Lilly's last day of school is May 22.

Hope you all got to see the video of John's homecoming. I am trying to download it to my computer so we always have it. I downloaded a program to make it happen, but have not had success yet at saving it and being able to play it. I will continue to try. It probably won't always be online so I was trying to save it.

Homecoming

Hi All,
As you can imagine today is a very special day.  Tonight we will go get John.  He arrives at about 10:30PM.   WGAL channel 8 in Harrisburg, Lancaster, York came to the house and spoke with Stan and me about it.  It will air on the 6 oclock news.  Perhaps you can tune in on the internet!!!  We have decorated the drive with 100 flags and our banner is up with lights.  We ordered a really cool one!!!!  His picture on it too!!!  It will feel good just to touch our son again and know he's back with us.  More later, Jeanne

4.07.2009

Spring is coming ????

Don't know if you all get Stan's letters on John, but he will be back in PA on Friday. What a wonderful day that will be for them. Our happiness and blessings are with all of you.

Spring is not coming any too soon around here, some flurries out there today.

Dad, Jess and Lilly went to Hillsdale and got 2 geese. Was looking for one to go with Dads' one after one of the pair died over winter, but had to get 2 of course.

Lilly and Isaiah have signed up for baseball and softball, and Isaiah is registered for kindergarten.

Kallie had her first birthday and Logan had his third. Lilly's bowling party was fun, Dad even bowled a couple of games.

Ross will start back to work next week, so the girls will be back in day care. Big adjustment for all.

Take care all,
Cheryl

3.12.2009

Can't wait for Spring..........

Had enough of the cold and wet. Got alot of rain this week, but trying to dry out now.

Rick was off for the month of January, but back to work now. Jess is still off work and no hopeful sign on when he will go back. Ross is just waiting for good weather to get back at it. I am ready for season here at Davis'

Ross and Amanda and girls went to Dianes' for a week in February. Had a good time and great weather there. The girls are doing great, cannot believe Kallie will be one March 19. Her party is March 21. Went down last week and watched Kayla at gymnastics practice.

Lilly had been on a bowling league this winter that Rick signed her up for, and is doing pretty well. Actually won her way into a district tourney and Jess is going to get her a ball for her birthday March 18 ( will be 8) and having a bowling birthday party. He had also signed up Isaiah, but he was not quite ready for every week yet. Maybe next year. They did bowl in a Sweetheart tourney on February 14, with one child and one adult that they won. Got a plaque and their picture in the paper. Of course none of the other bowlers had a 'pro' bowler on their team.

Isaiah and Logan are doing well. Isaiah has been in preschool at St. Augustines all year and will be registering for kindergarten in April. He will also start T-ball this spring.

The most current update on Candace is they went for her MRI at Cleveland yesterday and will be going back Monday to start chemo and radiation, 5 days a week, for 6 weeks. After that, the plan is 10 months of radiation back here in Toledo. We are still praying for the best but just don't know.

Mom and Dad are well, it fact pretty good right now. Jess has been going over to help him clean out the barn and I am going to make a big effort to clean up downstairs. It is working well having the cleaning ladies come in every other week. He does want to put up a garage this year and paint the roof of the barn. So there are a couple of projects in the works.

Anyone have plans for the summer yet ?????? We are going to National bowling in Vegas this year, so that should be fun. June 8 - 14, Rick has never been there and I have not been there since Jeanne and I were there, a l o n g time ago. Mom and Dad are planning a trip to Minnesota at the end of May. If you remember them talking about 'Swede and his wife' who were in the navy with them in Pensicola. They usually stopped to see Mom and Dad on their way thru to Florida every few years. They stopped going to Florida, so they have not seen them in a few years and she is not doing well, in a home now, and Mom and Dad would like to see them one more time.

Talk again soon, Cheryl

1.17.2009

Brrrrrrr.......

Well we all made it thru the cold snap. I think the coldest night was -19. coldest day -5. I don't know for sure what the wind chills were. Going to get up to 22 today. 12 right now and snowing again. Rick had fuel line feeze up last night when he went to town. I had told him to put on a heavier coat than his leather, and he did, but his gloves were in the other coat, so he was still mad when he got home because his hands were numb. Dad had all the animals in. The first day Rick had went over and helped him get the geese in the machine shed. There was enough snow and cold enough, Rick just walked up and carried them in.

No comments on the lovely little picture book? You guys must not have gotten the same kick out of it that I did.

There will not be a trip to Cooperstown in July, so if anyone starts to make summer plans let us all know.

Talk to you later, Cheryl

January 10, 2009

Mom and Dad had a good time at dinner. Went to Smokey Bones, a rib place in Toledo. The weather was a little iffy, but we all braved the drive down. Went in pairs so if anyone had trouble, someone else was close by. Glad that Jeanne was able to join us. She did leave right out Sunday morning and had clear roads on the turnpike for the drive back.

Happy Anniversary !!

55 long years ........LOL. Jeanne did get here safely, although slower at the end of drive. I talked to her several times along the way. The roads were fairly bad by the time she got off the turnpike. Tomorrow night we are all going out for supper, should be fun. I did get their picture in the paper, so you all will be getting that next week.

Congratulations Mom and Dad !!!!!!!!!!
