Almost Happy New Year

Good morning, everyone.

Tonight is the Tallman gathering, should be fun. I believe everyone is coming except for April and Dalen.

Christmas was good and we are happy to have Diane here for a while with James. I am hearing Meghan is having a great time in New York and seeing all the sights there is to see.
No plans for New Years Eve, we usually don't, watch the ball, shrimp cocktail and munchies. But Rick is having a party on Monday for the Ohio State game with some of his buddies.

I am looking forward to the new year to try again. Most of us have had our problems this year and it gives me a chance to put the unpleasant in the past, and gives us a starting over point. There have been some things that I am happy about this past year for the better and things I have been disappointed in as well. But at the same time it gives me time to reflect that we are all still standing except of course for Babe, who was close to family. Whew, we made it another year, including Mom and Dad. They are looking forward to their 52 Anniversary. A couple of times I have walked in over there and found them going through the chest I had bought them to put the mementos from the 50th. Newspaper clippings, the trip, cards they got, pictures etc. They listen to a radio station and a program called Renfro Valley Sunday Morning gathering at 5:30 AM where it is all old time hymns and they mention anniversaries and birthdays of note. Dad had me call to announce theirs on it the week before and after. So they as well are reflecting on another year.

Wish all of you happiness and blessings in the New Year and my prayers are for all of us for thanksgiving for what we have.

From Diane

I hope this comment gets to you all. I always forget my password. I do read all the LC Happenings. Here in Florida it's in the 50's. and very humid so it's wet. The entire family has been sick. Kevin has been to the doctor 3 times with a temp of 103. The chest x-ray was clear thankfully. James and I are excited about our trip to Ohio. Meghan is equally excited about New York City. She really wants to ride the subway so she was glad to hear the strike is over. Keep the snow coming for our trips!!! Sorry to hear about Wayne, I always felt like he worked hard for that company. Something better will come available. Goodluck to Wayne. Jeanne slip home between Dec.26 and 31st. Ha Ha. We'd love to see you

I think I figured this out

This is a test to see if I've done a post correctly. Hope so. I started my Christmas break and think I'll take two weeks. Benjamin hates to feel behind so he is going to do lessons till Thursday and then break for a week. That is only Benjamin's sentiment. Everyone else is glad for a longer break. This weekend John had a "poolee" function. That's what he is called in the Marines DEP program. It was a physical strength competition. He was pleased with his performance. He came in second overall out of sixteen and first in the two mile run. He has joined a Rifle club as well as the Military Club at school. More on the other kids another time. Jeanne

Babe's gone

Babe died last night. She has not been doing well, been to the vet about every week this month. She starting having seizures in Wisconsin. That has continued. When she went to the vet last week she had a lump on her side and they were told it was probably cancer. Yesterday she only laid under the table and kind of had tremors. Jess and I were there last night and we put her on a rug and Jess was stopping in the morning to help Dad take her to the vet for the last time. They stayed up til midnight with her, Dad was back up at 3:00 am and she was gone. Jess took her out this morning and will try to get her in the ground this afternoon.

Dad has been a little under the weather, having some bladder problems with spasms and a kink in his shoulder. He said he just doesn't do well in December, LOL. He was to the doctor yesterday.

Davis Farm Christmas party tonight and Santa at ADS in the morning for the kids and grandkids. Shadday dinner here on Sunday.

Later,

12.09.2005

We got snow !!

We got 8" here. Rick had bought a used mower with a plow over the summer and he got to use it this morning. Got up at 5:00 to get it done by the time we left. He was all happy.

ADS has the Christmas party tomorrow night at the Elks in Napoleon and Kayla is coming to spend the night at our house. It is Amanda's party also. Kara is watching her for a few hours until we get home.

Went to the VA office with Dad this week to go over that stuff and get an application. Will probably go over tomorrow to get the forms filled out and in the mail. It will take a couple of weeks to hear and then decide what to do with the Medicare.

I have no shopping done yet, but I do have my lists made. Some stuff I am getting online so that will be easy and I may do that tonight.

Sunday is the Children's Christmas program at church and Lilly will be singing with her group. Marv and Jean McLaughlin are also getting together with the kids this year at Kara and Darren's with gifts for the great-grandbabies on Sunday night.

Well, that will just about fill up this week-end !!

12.05.2005

PH won

Patrick Henry won the state game Friday. 47 to 25 or something like that. Central Catholic from Toledo also won their division.

Going over to put up Mom and Dad's Christmas tree tonight. We are also going up to the VA sometimes this week, to see what happens there, before we set up the Medicare program. Hope to go shopping sometime this week to get started.

Jess did the bathroom this weekend. It still had the black with stars on it. It is now deep red on the bottom, cream on the top and an Americana type border. It looks nice. The white walls in the living room and dining room are continuing to get on my nerves, but they won't get done that soon. Maybe after the first of the year.

Rick cleaned up the garage to get his truck in there to park for winter and to have it decent for when the Christmas dinners begin. I am making a to do list to try and get things done before the last couple of days, and it is a mad dash at the end.

Update

I got the email notification, so it appears to be working.
The family made it home from Chicago, Lucy's eye is the same, there isn't anything they can do until it detaches. Tell Ross congratulation! Is he going to have it mounted?

Friday

Today is the PH state football game. Mom and Dad are coming over to watch it on TV. It is on ONN network at 3:00. Rick is taping it to watch after work and Kara & family are coming to have enchiladas for this evening. Should be fun.

Ross got a deer yesterday. 5 point with the 6th point broken off. But a good sized one. They ran him out from behind our house and got him out behind Hartford's house. No one has been in the state ground behind our house yet, so several of them were settled in back there.

Jess had his final physical today and starts Sunday night as direct hire at Sauders Sunday night.
Yeah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How's Lucy doing? Did you get Dakota back home for school?

I have been trying to get some kind of automatic email system for when a post is made to let everyone know, but nothing is working how I what. So for now I will simply send a manual email whenever a post is made as a reminder. If you all have been getting tests and invites that is what they are for. You can ignore the Google group invite because I am not going with that system.

Later,

11.30.2005

Hey there...

It is cold here today with a little snow cover, an inch more tomorrow.

Starting to get the Christmas stuff around and up, boxes sitting everywhere. We don't have our tree yet, so that will be the next project. Rick put red and green covers on our lights outside. No shopping done . The December calendar is getting full.

They are resting up from the trip north, no deer to bring home. Mom and Dad went to doctor yesterday, since they both came home sick. Dad had it before he left and Mom got it after they were there.

Lucy has a retina that is detaching from her eye. She was in Chicago for Thanksgiving and it started happening there. I think the plan is up in the air right now.

I have added an email group to send out an email whenever I post to the blog as a reminder.

Still working on Dad's Medicare drug coverage. We are going to go up and check out what he can maybe get from the VA first and go from there. Mom is all set.

Later,

11.23.2005

Snowing here now

Dad wants Jess and me to put the chickens in the shed tonight so they don't freeze. they are coming back home Friday morning. The storm is supposed to move in Friday, so I think they hope to be far enough south to be okay. Rick hasn't got anything. Dad hasn't been out. He keeps saying he thinks it's getting better, but the next time I talk to them, I'm not so sure. Mom will get him doctored up when they get home.

The kids will all be over tomorrow for dinner, I don't know what they are doing up there , but I know Rick is going out hunting in the morning. Wayne too??

Ross is about done working, a couple days this week and a couple days next week and that will be it. He is watching Kayla while Amanda goes back to work. Who would have thought it ??????

HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!!!
COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS, NAME THEM ONE BY ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phelps happenings

I think Rick is having fun. Dad is starting to feel better. I'll take some pictures tonight with mom and dad.

Cold and Bright

They all got out of here about 8:30.

Jess had his interview for direct hire at Sauder's this morning. He has been on through the temp service. Will probably go to second shift (boo) but will get to stay in Contours (yeah). Will also get a several dollars an hour raise (yeah), with more every 6 months for the first 3 years. Contours is easy work and the highest pay, he will be running a CNC machine. Also out of the blue, she began asking him about his sales experience. She was impressed with his ability to speak to her, his openness, and asked if he would be willing to go into sales if he could. He is cautious but thrilled. I am praying that this may be the good to come out of the 3 1/2 years. ( you know every cloud has a silver lining they say !!!!!!)

That's all for now,

11.16.2005

They are ready to go....

Jess went over and helped Mom and Dad get loaded up and Rick is on his last things. They are planning on pulling out at 8:00 am.

Ross, Amanda and Kayla were down last night, but we didn't see them, we were all gone. They did go to Mom & Dad's and then took her over to Pam and Roger Rice, Molly's parents to see them.

Well if you guys have enough of hunting, you can always go out on the snowmobiles !!!!!!

Went to play poker last night and won. $78.00. Usually play on Tuesday and Saturdays if there isn't anything else going on at the Henry County Sportsman club. It is a 10.00 buy-in.

Haven't played for a few weeks, so I surprised myself. There is a group of about 20 to 30 that plays, mostly men, but a few ladies are there sometimes.

Later,

Snow

We got 10" of the wet and heavy kind. School is closed.

11.15.2005

Snow

8-12" tonight and tomorrow.

Rainy day here.

Rick and I went to Toledo last night and got shells for him to take hunting. They will be leaving Thursday morning early.

Vernon Rohrs died Thursday. His funeral was Sunday.

Other than that, not too much going on right now. Lilly stayed last night and we took her to school today. Jess's 29th birthday is today.

We do have our names drawn for Christmas, so I will have to get shopping pretty soon.

Later,

Dakota and Hauk

Voted yesterday.

The state issues went how I voted, but the school issue went down by about 60 some votes, (Fulton County voted against it).

Kara and Isaiah played last night with Darren watching them at our house, while I went to the candle party at Kara's. Mom was there as well. Rick and Jess had their pool league.

I never did take the tour of the house, only the woods, at your place Wayne. I believe everyone is getting ready for the big trip north next week. Mom, Dad and Rick will be taking off Thursday morning and back over the next week-end (Thanksgiving). The license is 160.00 !!!!!!??????

Maybe one of these days we can get those girls posting on here and let us know what's happening. :)

Later,

11.08.2005

Finished painting the ceiling, ......I will post some photos of Hauk in the morning. Its spposed to turn windy and cold tonight with a chance of snow showers.

11.07.2005

Hey...

Too bad about the football team...who did they play?,... I thought they had a pretty good chance of winning a cople of games in the playoffs. Lucy's mom is up for a visit..we went to a fish fry Friday night, Saturday I worked outside, cut some firewood, and played ball with Dakota up at the school ... Sunday I primed the ceiling in the weight room and and watched the Ultimate Fighting Championship on TV. Lucy et. al. went to Rhinelander for the afternoon.
I can't find the camera, Ill have to borrow one from work to take a picture of Hauk.
Cool and rainy here but later this week its supposed to be above average in temperature. I talked to mom and dad for just a short time last week, she sounded pretty good. Bu they don't always tell me anything.

Good Morning,

Had a full week-end. Lilly was here Friday night and Saturday morning, Isaiah was here Saturday afternoon for over night, went home Sunday noonish, then Lilly was back in afternoon til early evening. Lilly has pink eye and an ear infection right now, so her and Isaiah haven't been able to see each other. She did call and talk to him while he was there a couple of times, they are missing each other and asking about each other. They are used to playing a couple times of week together and even Isaiah realizes he hasn't seen her.

Liberty lost in the playoff game Saturday night. I was home with Isaiah ( it was supposed to rain,) but everyone else went to the game.

Had some major wind storms here Saturday night and Sunday, most of the leaves are going off the trees. We have had a couple of hard frosts, so things are starting to fade away.

Right now working with Mom and Dad on their health insurance and drug coverage. With the new Medicare drug coverage we will be making some changes in their coverage. I believe Mom gets a lung test this week again.

On the calendar for this week - candle party at Kara's Tuesday, Lilly stays Monday and Wednesday.

What's going on where your at this week ??

11.02.2005

Hey...

That's great...she's adorable. It looked like Isiaha was having a good time but Jesse's girl was kind of mad about something.

11.01.2005

How long does it usually take for a new post to post?

Great....

Great pictures... Is Kayla both the pumpkin and inch worm?

BOO !!!

Beautiful fall day here. Went with Mom and Dad to put irises rhizomes on the graves of Mom' s grandparents and great-grandparents, Aunt Edith and Aunt Viola, etc. They have not been decorating all those graves the last few years and the irises are something will come up every year and are in bloom over Memorial Day. Also put some on our grandparents. Mom and Dad had put mums on their graves this year and I had put petunias on this past spring so they all looked nice.

Also put some bulbs in the ground over there. Dad has been wanting some tulips and daffodils for early spring. We got some crocus also.

Well tomorrow night is the big night. Lilly and Isaiah will be going trick or treating. Lilly will be a Princess and maybe Isaiah will be a puppy, ( he refuses to put on his costume). We even had Lilly put it on to show him, when I went back to trying to get him to put it on, he grabbed it, threw it in the corner behind his crib and said " No! Don't want to !" It is a big fleecy over the head deal, Kara is going to cut it down the front and put buttons on it, so it doesn't have to go over his head hoping that will help. Mom and Dad are coming over for the evening, and the kids will all come after they get done. We are having chili, cider and donuts, and a bonfire. Should be fun.

10.28.2005

Yeah Wayne !!!!

Okay I got 2 of you on board and posting !!! Diane and Kevin lost some of the roof on their garage I guess. They are good on gas and food, and do have electricity back. Don't know about their internet service, will wait for her to post.

Did everyone survive okay?

Everyone must be okay in Florida, I haven't heard any news. I'll take some pictures this weekend of Hauk and Dakota. Clear amd sunny, a high of 53.

10.22.2005

Kayla today

Yeah Diane !!!!!

this morning I got her on board and her post up. And be sure to sign up on the notify list so you will get an email when someone makes a post.
Picture of Kayla from last Sunday night when she was here. Her first overnight will be December 10, for Amanda's work Christmas party. Unless something comes up sooner. It is also Rick's work party, so Kara and Darren are keeping her for the evening and then to Grandma and Grandpa's for the night. !!!!!!

the storm is coming

It's the calm before the storm. Only a cat 2 at this time anyway, so not as bad as the 3's we had last year. We do have to bring in the pool furniture, tie down the trampoline and be prepared for power outages. It's really humid here so it'll be uncomfortable without a/c ! I would like some updated pictures of Hauk and Kayla please. I'll keep you posted during the next 48 hours if I have electricity. Love to all Diane

10.20.2005

Raining here .....

and it is supposed to keep up for several days. And it sounds like Diane and family are in for some bad weather again. Mom and Dad are back from Jeanne and Stan's, have talked to them a couple of times but have not seen them. We wanted to go to Hillsdale this week-end, but probably not in the rain. Dad wanted to take some of his stuff up there ( ducks, geese, etc.) but we have not been able to find a Saturday to go for a couple of months, can you believe that ?????
Lilly was here last night for the evening, took her to Kiddy Club at church. It is quiet here tonight. Jess and Ella are sleeping and Rick is at bowling, and I am anxiously awaiting Survivor.
That's it for now ............

10.16.2005

Mom and Dad have made it to Jeanne and Stan's. They plan on being back Wednesday night. We are in charge of the kitten they have been feeding with an eye dropper and now up to a bottle. I have put some soft food in a bowl, which she is eating, and a bottle a couple times a day to supplement. And best of all I gave her a litter box and she is using it. All the kids have left for this evening. Kara, Darren and Isaiah got back from Indiana and Ross, Amanda and Kayla came down. Mainly, I think they all came for my pizza dip !! Had that and chicken on the grill. Kayla weighs 8# 12 oz. now. She had lost quite a few ounces at first, she is now back on track. I think Amanda said she has gained 15 oz. in 15 days. Also drew names for the Christmas gift exchange here. Speaking of Christmas, talked to Diane today, and her and James are coming home for Christmas. December 26 to January 2 or so. Since she will be here, I may try to have another Tallman get-together. We haven't done that for a few years.
Hope you all have a good week,

10.15.2005

Good Morning !

Lilly and Isaiah both spent the night. Got up early and Lilly is gone to a volleyball game (Ariana) And pretty soon Kara and Darren will be here to get Isaiah. They are going to Indiana today to Darren's folks. I'm going over to Mom and Dad's later today, I have some squash for them and a new Davis Farm hat. Have not seen Kayla. They did not come up Wednesday. We were going to go last night, but we are both getting over colds, so we didn't go. The sun is shining here today and I think about 65, so should be a good fall day. Rick and I have bowling tonight, ( every other Saturday @ 8:30, and then a surprise 40th party for the wife of one of his friends. Did you guys know I had a surprise party for Rick this summer for his 40th? I had one of the guys he works with take him golfing after work, and when they got back we were all there. It was good. Isaiah wants to play stickers right now, so that's it for now.

10.13.2005

Hey, well we got Darren and Wayne signed up. Gave Wayne a short course in making posts. I have added a link where you can sign up to receive and email whenever someone makes a post. I think it will be great when we get used to posting to keep in touch. John can probably help Jeanne out and Diane, if you need help, I can give you the short course. In the meantime here are some pics from Wayne's

10.12.2005

Overcast fall day here today. I think Ross, Amanda and Kayla are coming down tonight. Lilly will be there. We have her every Monday night and Wednesday night because Jess takes her to pre-school every Tuesday and Thursday. She goes to Pat Fetterman's at the Lutheran church. I believe Mom and Dad are going to Jeanne and Stan's on Sunday for a few days. Have not heard an update on how Stan is doing for a while. From the pictures you can see we went to the Corn Maize on Sunday. Really just let the kids play, did the hayride, and took pictures. We hope to plan an 'adult day' to actually do the maze and the 'Haunted Cornfield'. Except for Kara, who wants no part of the haunted cornfield. LOL ! I am trying to find blog photo albums for the pictures, so I will keep working on that, but here is one of Kayla I don't think I sent.

Fall Pics

New Idea

Hey gang ! Decided to give this try for communicating things that are going on here. You will be able to post your comments directly and I can post pics for you to see. I will start with some pics of this past week- end of pumpkin carving and the Corn Maize.
